Biography

Emily Spezia-Shwiff is the Program Coordinator for the Office of Undergraduate Research. She provides support for students seeking and participating in research opportunities on and off ÍøÆسԹÏ’s campus, especially those students interested in humanities and social sciences research. She also works to expand humanities and social sciences undergraduate research opportunities and programming. 

Emily works closely with many of the Office of Undergraduate Research’s cohort programs, including the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) and the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Summer Research Institute (OSRI). These opportunities are designed to support students from underrepresented backgrounds in their research pursuits and to develop professional research skills.

Emily Spezia-Shwiff graduated from ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï College with degrees in musical studies and history. She conducted a variety of historic research with the Cleveland Landmarks Commission as a part of her AmeriCorps service year with the Ohio History Service Corps. As an ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï student, she chaired the Experimental College department and directed the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï College Marching Band. She conducted research in African American history in addition to serving as Senior Editor of the History Design Lab. She also conducted research in ethnomusicology.
