2017 Cooper Competition Field Narrowed to 6 Violinists

Welcome to the 2017 Cooper International Competition at ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï

Each will perform Wednesday for the chance to advance to Friday's Concerto Finals with The Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall.

Two sessions of Concerto Round competition on Tuesday have given way to another round of jury deliberations in the 2017 Cooper International Competition for Violin. 

After two rounds of competition at ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï, the following six participants have been selected to advance to the Recital Finals on Wednesday, July 19:

Kiarra Saito-Beckman, 18, U.S.A.  

Maya Anjali Buchanan, 17, U.S.A.

Qing Yu Chen, 17, U.S.A.

Johan Dalene, 16, SWEDEN

Christina Jihee Nam, 14, U.S.A.

Zachary Brandon, 18, U.S.A.

Admission is free for Wednesday's Recital Finals at 7 p.m. in ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï's Warner Concert Hall. The program will be broadcast live by , Cleveland's classical music station. View the live stream at the .

The 2017 Cooper Competition culminates in the Concerto Finals on Friday, July 21, at Cleveland's Severance Hall. There, three finalists will perform complete concertos with The Cleveland Orchestra, with the winner taking home a prize of $20,000. Tickets to the Concerto Finals are $15 and $25, with free tickets available for students under 18 accompanied by a paying adult.
