The tradition of chalk artistry on pavement dates back 500 years, and ÍøÆسԹÏ's annual chalk art festival, Chalk Walk, is one of many that still take place in cities and towns around the globe. Picture-perfect weather prevailed for this year's Chalk Walk—ÍøÆسԹÏ's eighth—which took place Saturday, June 22, on streets throughout downtown. As it does each year, the event attracted people of all ages and skill levels. The event, free and open to all, is sponsored by community organizations, including the Allen Memorial Art Museum, Firelands Association for the Visual Arts, ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Business Partnership, ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Public Library, ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Heritage Center, and Lorain National Bank.

This Week in Photos: Beautiful
It’s Saturday night in March and there’s a pulsating glow spilling from the windows of the Root Room in Carnegie Building. Inside, rows of spectators line the perimeter of a long narrow stage. ÍøÆسԹϒs most anticipated fashion show begins as cheers swell when models, draped in creative attire, take their turn down the walk. This is a signature event during Black History Month. It also serves as inspiration for this week’s photo series.
Community Mural Project Highlights Aspects of ÍøÆسԹÏ
More than 100 town and college members picked up artists' brushes and applied their painting skills to a 32-foot mural in Carpenter Court late last month during Community Paint Day. The result is an expressive collage that the organizer of the project hopes will fill passersby with ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï pride.
