The author of more than 30 books, writer and social activist bell hooks died December 15 after an extended illness. From 1988 to 1994 hooks was as an associate professor in English and women’s studies at ���سԹ�. Her book Ain’t I a Woman: Black Women and Feminism was named one of the twenty most influential woman’s books by Publishers Weekly and she was named one  of the most influential women of the past century, by TIME.

Jane T. Blodgett, 89, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2021. Blodgett met her future husband, Robert S. Danforth Professor of History Geoffrey T. Blodgett, during her first year at ���سԹ�. After graduating, they returned to ���سԹ� and she spent 26 years teaching in the community. She was also an ardent historian who chaired the ���سԹ� Historic Preservation Commission for ten years. UPDATE: the memorial service for Jane Blodgett will take place at First Church on Saturday, March 26 at 2:00 p.m.
