“It was really amazing going into the community and performing an art form that they probably haven't seen before,” second-year voice major Ella Vaugn said, “Teachers would tell us that they've never seen their students so engaged.”

Jazz icon and ���سԹ� Conservatory professor, Billy Hart, is part of the inaugural group of venerated jazz greats recognized as champions of the music genere.

This spring, ���سԹ� Opera is set to entangle its audiences in the game of love with its production of Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera. Set in a garden, this story will intertwine love, trickery, and the art of gameplay into one. 

Celebrated violinist and pedagogue Midori concludes a two-part ���سԹ� residency on March 5, reuniting with pianist Özgür Aydin to perform a program inspired by poetry and folk music.

This April, Distinguished Artists in Residence Sharon Robinson and Jaime Laredo will share their musicianship and artistry with ���سԹ� Conservatory students in masterclasses, performances, and more.

“He’s with me in every lesson that I teach,” Daniel Okulitch ‘99 said about former ���سԹ� voice faculty member Richard Miller (1926-2009).

Throughout his decades of playing chamber music, Emanuel Ax has kept his friends close. “ It’s wonderful to have people on stage that you like,” the pianist says. “I’m pretty gregarious as a person, so I like being with someone, especially old friends.”

The 13 year-old violinist from Switzerland claims top honors in competition with her performance of full violin concerto with ProMusica chamber Orchestra in Finney Chapel.

Nicknamed the “Hendrix of the kora,” Seckou Keita is today’s most influential and inspiring performer on the instrument, and is considered a leader of the newest generation of African traditional musicians, fusing traditional forms and instruments with those of other cultures.

���سԹ� Conservatory is proud to announce the return of the Richard Miller Classical Voice Competition for High School Students, a festival aimed at encouraging and supporting high school students in the pursuit of a career in classical vocal music. The festival is named in honor of Richard Miller, a member of the voice faculty at the ���سԹ� Conservatory of Music for more than 40 years.
